Rangoli is a traditional colourful decorative folk art of India in which patterns are created on the floor in living rooms or courtyards using materials such as colored rice, dry flour, colored sand or flower petals. It is usually made during Diwali, Onam, Pongal and other Indian festivals.
Rangoli is a common sight on all Hindu celebrations. It is a very old form of art which has been followed and has continuously evolved over the years. Even today, Hindus make Rangolis in their homes and on special occasions as it is believed to be holy and it looks beautiful too.
Rangoli is generally made in colour and we often see it decorated with flower petals and diyas. We love how different states in India have their own unique way of making Rangolis. Rangolis are bright and beautiful and take their inspiration from sources like mythology, religion, nature or simply just about anything.
